Anyway, enough being a pansy-We made BABYFOOD!
We went to Walmart today and got some produce which included mango (for 8+months), plums, papaya, avocado, apples, bananas and pears. We had frozen blueberries at home (we bought a big bag from Costco and it will last us forever. Those blueberries really go a long way!) I also bought 2 cans of organic canned pumpkin. It cost me a total of $16 and made 112oz of baby food. I put them in ice cube trays which is approx. 1 ounce each. The sad part is if I would have bought the Gerber All Natural containers 112oz would have also cost me $16 so I guess this didn't really save me money. We had fun though and G likes what she's tried so far!
First we peeled and cooked the fruits. Then I set them all up in a row to start mixing them to make yummy 'concotions'. I really wish I wouldn't have done this... If I would have thought ahead I would have just froze them as is. Each cube makes 1 oz and babies usually eat 3-4oz at a time. Then I could have taken different cubes and mixed them once I defrosted them (so take an apple and a blueberry cude to make that combo). Oh well...lesson learned!
I had fun in the beginning making different combos. I mixed oatmeal, pumpkin and cinnamon to make pumpkin pie! This is what Gianna had for dinner; I think she enjoyed it. However after 100+ cubes I was getting sick of doing that so I just mixed whatever...blueberries with apples, avocado with pears, etc. I let Gianna try some as I went and she liked each one, thankfully she's not a picky eater like her mom!
Where was Gianna during all this? Oh just playing quietly with some toys...
Haha, who am I kidding? She was sleeping most of the time, then played in her jumperoo in the kitchen, then fussed because we weren't giving her our undivided attention. Poor peanut just wasn't herself today! Let's all hope tomorrow my smiley girl is back!
