Gianna-3 weeks old!

Our little girl is now three weeks old, which means next week she will be a month old :-( She's growing up too fast! She's starting to get eyelashes and looves to stare at you when you talk to her. She also loves to look at her Baby Faces book that Grandma Vicki got her or watch the lights on her playmat! I've been trying to read her a book or two each night before bed, her favorite are the ones that rhyme. She stares at the pages so intently, it's so cute! Here's me reading her Dr. Suess.
We've also been having her listen to the book that Grandma Vicki got her...she recorded herself reading it!
On Memorial Day we went to Aunt Kathy's pool and she dipped her feet in the pool...but she didn't like that very much!

Here's me and G at Aunt Kathy's! (I still hate to nurse in public (yes even with a cover) so I always pump and bring a bottle with us wherever we go. Maybe someday I'll learn to nurse in public, but probably not)However, she loves bath time-even when she doesn't sleep through the whole thing :-)
Here's her 3 week pictures!!! Isn't she beautiful?? Now if only she would grow a lil more so she could wear 0-3 month clothes! Right now she's in Newborn, and only has 3-4 outfits that fit her :-( We even went looking for cute newborn stuff-but had no luck!

While the last 3 weeks have been amazing, we're having trouble with G sleeping at night. She's been making these terrible grunting/moaning/fussing sounds all.night.long so that means I'm up all.night.long. (And no, we will not let her CIO-cry it out (ever). Newborns especially don't have the ability to soothe/calm themselves until atleast 4 months of age so we pick her up whenever she starts to cry/fuss.) So anyway-finally today I called our pedi. She said that we need to look for her arching her back when she fusses, which means she has acid reflux. Otherwise, grunting and moaning during sleep is a normal newborn thing! Who knew!! So tonight we are going to only pick her up if she is actually crying because most likely she is grunting during deep sleep and isn't actually upset or in pain. So we will see how this goes :-) I'll keep ya updated!

I'm still trying to get this funny video uploaded to my blog-it's of Gianna's many faces. She is hilarious, when she wakes up she makes alllll these different faces, from pouty, to smiles, to kissy lips, to OOOhhhh faces to old man looking faces...it's too cute :-)

Oh Jess, she is simply precious! We had a battle with reflux and have finally got it under control. We first noticed him grunting in his sleep like her coupldn't get comfortable. Here are a few thins that helped us.

First, we would keep him upright for about 20 minutes after he eats. We also woudl feed him half his bottle, take a break change him and them feed him the rest. This allowed for him to digest the formula more before taking in all the formula. We also let him sleep in the bouncy seat, car seat or swing. The upright position helped him a ton. Lastly, we put him on Zantac and he has been a new baby! Good luck and please let me know if you have questions, it was a process, but it will get better!

Jess-she is growing so fast and is so beautiful! When it comes to the newborn sleep thing.. all you can do is try. I rememeber E would only sleep in her bouncy seat for a few weeks so I'd sleep on the couch with her on the coffee table in our living room. She also liked her swing so we brought that into our room for a few nights. Does G sleep on a sleep wedge? That helped alot.. also being swaddled. E didn't sleep through the night until 6 weeks and then slept like a rock (12-14hours) from 6weeks to 5months.. then she got teeth. UGH! Now we are up every few hours to nurse and soothe. I have my opinions of the CIO method and oh goodness please don't do it until you research both sides of the effects of it. We personally will never do it.(just my opinion). ALSO- breastfeeding- please email me I'd love to chat with you about it. Breastfeeding in NORMAL and you should nurse anywhere anytime but I understand your discomfort. Oh the stories I could tell you about my first 8weeks, AHH! Your doing great and your such a good mommy!

sounds like a great plan! At 3 weeks of age there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with picking them up when they cry, that's how they get through their first developmental stage (the nurse in me coming out, sorry!). Sounds like you are doing wonderful! And she is absolutely precious!

She's so gorgeous!!! I just figured out how to upload a video to blogger as well,,, this is what I figured out... upload it to youtube first and then it gives you the option to "share" when you click "share" it then gives you the option to upload it to blogger, facebook, myspace etc. click blogger and it automatically puts it on your blog... its great.
good luck\

OH, also,, im so glad you are not letting her "cry it out" this is the time when babies learn security and that they're parents will comfort and nurture them. My son is only 2 weeks older than G so we are pretty much learning the same things at the same time.... this mommy thing is exhausting huh? *wink*
