4 weeks!

It's 4:00am....G won't sleep in her PnP so she is currently passed out on the couch beside me. I'm hoping if she lays there long enough, I can carefully move her back to bed without her noticing-probably won't work but worth a try ;-)

Baby girl is now 4 weeks old and will be a month old on Saturday!! Crazy! She weighs a little over 9lbs now but still doesn't fit into 0-3 month clothes! And newborn clothes are now too small-so poor thing has a limited selection on what to wear each day :-( Sad, I know-haha.

So I'll admit it-the last 2 weeks have been a little harder than the first two. Gianna became a terrible sleeper (which means very sleep deprived parents!) but we may have figured out the problem. This weekend I finally decided we needed to figure out what was going on-she slept good up until about 2 weeks old and then she started waking up every hour and wouldn't go back to sleep. Everyone kept saying she's just a newborn and they don't sleep-but only sleeping a few hours each day & night isn't normal! She is doing better (except for tonight-she slept all.day.long which means no sleep at night-oops!). We still don't know exactly what the problem is but we've tried a couple things and something must be working :-) I've taken out all dairy from my diet. My mom told me I was allergic to the milk in breast milk when I was little and after some research, I learned removing dairy products from my diet would help with Gianna's milk allergy (if she has one). I plan on slowly adding dairy back in in a few weeks to see if she starts getting fussy again or if she's ok then I know she doesn't have an allergy. Second, poor G had a diaper rash for the last 2 weeks...it wasn't getting better or worse and didn't look that bad so I just kept putting cream on it. Finally I called the pedi and they had her come in-she had a yeast infection :-( Poor thing was probably all itchy or irritated down there! So now she's on creams to clear that up. The pedi also said she may have acid reflux. She's been acting super fussy after feedings and sleeping poorly so the pedi said it may be AR (acid reflux). We've been working on feeding her upright and keeping her upright for 20-30 minutes after feedings which help also. Lastly, my poor milk supply has tanked lately. I've been sooo exhausted that I forget to eat and drink some days. I'm pretty sure the combination of no sleep and no water is what killed it-I'm working on getting it back up but for now we have to supplement with a little soy formula :-( She gets an ounce or two after each feeding to make sure she's full.

After making all the above changes the last few days Gianna is sleeping a bit better. It's weird, because she's an angel during the day and soo much fun but after feedings and at night she was soo fussy! I even finally gave in and let my mom spend the night the other night. I always said I would never allow anyone to help us care for G-she's my baby and I'm her momma and I didn't want anyone else having to take care of her-especially at night. But Jeff finally talked me into letting my mom stay one night. Gianna slept good...my mom took over around 4:30am so she didn't help all night but it was soooo awesome! I slept until 7:15, woke up and my mom made me go back to bed, then didn't get up until 9:15!! Amazing!

Overall-Gianna is doing good! I don't want anyone to think the last two weeks haven't been fun...although we are sleep deprived and at times overwelmed I wouldn't change being a momma for anything! It's so fun watching Gianna grow and learn, so awesome cuddling with my daughter, and so amazing watching Jeff interact with her!! Would change anything for the world, we love her to death.

So anways.....She's really learning on holding her head up. It's so funny to watch her-she'll hold it up and look around for a little bit then all of a sudden will lose control and let it fall forward. I love to watch her...she's doesn't make all her faces as much (makes me sad!) but her eyes get super big when you talk to her or she watches something. It's so cute! She's also going bald already! haha I know babies usually lose their newborn hair and G has started to lose hers on top of her head, but still has hair down the middle. I keep telling Jeff she is like him more each day ;-) She still has a bunch in the back though-she's rockin the old man hair style. Her headbands do a good job of hiding her balding-hehe.

I think I'm going to try to lay G down in her PnP now! I'll leave ya with a few pictures of the last week!

Not a good pic-but you can see her bald spots! I tell Jeff that Dr.Cooper must have not used my eggs because Gianna is exactly like her dad and nothing like her mom! haha

The dance season is over and last weekend I had our dance recital! Gianna wore a tutu and a personalized onesie I got on Etsy. She did awesome at rehearsal and recital too! I had her with me all day at rehearsal and just wore her in the moby-she was an angel!

Gianna's fave way to sleep :-)

Oh and birth announcements should be going out next week! FINALLY!! I can't wait to see them and send them out to everyone!

Also- I have her 4 week picture, just haven't had time to download it. I'll post that along with her one month picture on Saturday! Good night!!!

omg that little tutu is so precious! The famous saying "it'll get harder before it gets easier" is oh so true, especially with children! Good luck with the sleeping issues and way to go allowing someone to help you!
