Gardening

I'm so incredibly excited for spring!! Not only because I'm sick and tired of have 2 1/2 feet of snow covering my front yard but because I just ordered my fruits & veggies for my garden!!! If you guys remember-last fall Jeff and I made a huge garden for me behind the garage-about 20x20. Then I have a flower bed lining the side of the garage and another small one that is by the patio. So...here's what I ordered:

2 Blueberry plants-They were only $12 for both (had to buy two so they could pollinate each other) and I've really been wanting to try them. I'm going to plant them in the small bed by the patio because they need acidic soil.

25 strawberry plants-I really don't need that many but they only came in large amounts so I'll probably give some away.

Russet potatoes, green beans, cucumbers, and peas-I've been wanting to try potatoes and a friends mom did them last year so I threw them in. (I'm going to pick up already growing tomato, green pepper & jalapeno plants at our local farmer's market. I did this last year and they grew really well!)

2 Blackberry & 3 Raspberry plants-this was a collection so they should do well pollinating each other. I'm going to plant these along the garage.

Then for free I got these perennial bulbs: 4 Exotica, 4 shamrock, 3 triplet lilies, 5 blue poppy aneome! We have a completely bare front flower bed so I'll just use my free bulbs to plant in there along with some hostas and what not! For under $50 I think I got a super great deal! Plus I used my gift card from my SIL/BIL from Christmas-Thanks Tyler & Court :-)

Good luck with your garden! Scott is already planning for our garden as well, he can't wait to get started! Today we bought an indoor planter kit for broccoli from Lowe's. He's going to plant the broccoli and keep them inside the house until they are hardy enough to be transplanted outside.
