Mei Tei Carrier

I plan on being a big 'baby wearer'-I think it will be great to have a few different carriers that Baby P may like so I can work around the house, shop, etc-hands free! So far I've got my moby wrap and a sling...and today I made my mei tei!! I got the pattern at Joann's awhile ago at their dollar sale-It's M5678 and really super duper easy. It's not confusing at all and I only made a few tiny mistakes ;-)

After first I was skeptical because I was worried how 'strong' the actual carrier would be..but I honestly used over 2 bobbins of thread because you sew SO much. They have so many extra lines you sew in for strength. It feels super heavy duty and with two straps there's no way a baby is coming out of there!

Here are a few pictures...one with a newborn and one with a 4 year old!! Now mine only goes up to 30lb weight limit but that's still pretty good. (Plus, I used heavier fabric than just a cotton or jersey)

Here's mine...I had to use a teddy bear because I don't have a baby yet :-) I'm really excited about it though! Most mei tei's cost over $45...I made mine for $10 and still have tons of fabric left!(don't mind my sunday grung look!)

I also made a changing pad to put in our diaper bag. I used fusible vinyl for easy clean up! It didn't turn out as great as I wanted it to but it will work. I sewed in a pocket to hold our diapers and wipes too. I figure anything is better than laying your baby down on a germy changer at the mall!

Here's a few pics! And all folded up ready to go!
