Getting Crafty...

During my days off I took some time to do a few sewing projects. I have a couple that I'm in the middle of, but here's what I've got done so far.

Jeff's coworker and friend, Derek, is having a baby girl any minute! I couldn't resist making her a super cute tutu and headband. I also dyed a white onsie pink. If I can figure out this stupid iron on crap I got I'll add an aplique but I think I might have gotten the wrong stuff :-( I hope she likes it! :-)

I also decided to see if I could make a pair of maternity jeans out of a pair of jeans that I had, and loved, but they were tight on my tummy. I cut the front only (I wanted them to look more like jeans, instead of maternity jeans).

I made sure to leave enough room to sew around the pockets so they would still be usable. I took some jersey knit fabric that I purchased awhile go on clearance and some wide banded knit elastic. I folded over the jersey to make sure it was doubled and sewed in the elastic. I made sure to use a zig zag stitch which will allow the fabric to stretch with the elastic. I then just double stitched the band of fabric into my jeans. It took all of 30 minutes! I wish I had more jeans I didn't care about ruining to make some more!! (I know I'm not a good instruction giver-so if you want to do this and have questions please let me know! Or I'll be happy to make some for you :-) )

Here's a pic...the fit me great now but actually stretch a TON! So hopefully I can wear them until I'm 6+ months!

You are possibly the craftiest person I have ever "met". Do you give sewing lessons? ;)I'd love to learn.
