G's first day of preschool!

Gianna started 2-year old preschool this year. We enrolled her for 2 days/week for 2.5hrs a day. I still wonder if we are doing the right thing, I guess time will tell! But I know one thing, if she loves it, I think it will be great when her baby sister arrives. She'll get some fun play time and mommy will get some baby/momma snuggle time in.

A few weeks ago we went to visit her preschool and meet her teacher. Miss Karen is amazing and Gianna loves her. She's very sweet and so patient. Gianna actually cried when we left because she wanted to stay and play! MissK ended up giving her a little teddy bear to bring home to remind her of preschool-G loves that bear :-).

Fast forward to this morning...First I woke up by G poking my nose. When I opened my eyes I saw this sweet little face right in front of mine. She let out a little giggle and it just melted my heart. Seriously, she is the best! It was a bit crazy trying to get myself ready and G ready by 8:30 (had to have time for pictures before we left at 8:45!). Of course, Gianna had no interest in eating breakfast but did great for pictures because I bribed her with Smarties ;-).

Her teacher also suggested that the kids bring any lovies that would help them get through the day. Gianna decided to bring her Mickey blanket and Hello Kitty cat. I wrote her name on the tag for her kitty...you'll hear more about this later!

So off we went to school! Jackson goes to school there also and as soon as we got there G just thought she got to stay in Jackson's room. But once I steered her toward her room she was very excited! She said HI to MissKaren and we got her backpack put away. I stayed for a few minutes and then she ran off to get a book and sat in a chair. I told her I was going to run errands and would be back later. Her response? "OK!". I got a hug and a kiss and off I went! I stayed and peaked through the door for a minute. The teacher's aid (oops-forgot her name!) sat with G and read for a bit with another little girl.

Now I held my tears back and wondered around Target for 45 minutes. (The first week they only go for an hour to help them transition.) I pulled into her preschool about 5 minutes early and walked to her classroom..then I heard the dreaded little voice crying for her mommy and I knew it was G. I went into her classroom and she was in the bathroom with the teacher's aid washing her hands...and bawling for me! Apparently after she went potty and was trying to wash her hands a boy pushed her because he wanted to wash his hands first. Oh man, took all I had not to break down and cry with her. She clung to me for a minute and then I sat beside her while she had snack with her friends. After she calmed down she told me all about her day (literally;a play-by-play) and told me about the boy pushing her in the bathroom. I assured her he didn't mean to and we talked about how fun preschool is! Her teachers said she did great and was very busy all day. Then G said, " oh, I drew you a picture! It's baby (insert baby's name) in your belly!". Again, I almost cried it was so sweet (and I'm so emotional!). We sat and talked for a while longer while she slowly ate her snack and the teacher told me that she asked G what her kitty's name was, G told her she didn't know but there was a name on the Kitty's tag (remember, from the morning?). That made me laugh!

I finally got her to leave and we went to the park to swing and play. Ironically the little boy that pushed her in the bathroom was there. G and George played on the swings together and she learned he's really a nice boy :-)

All in all, it went well. She seemed to have fun! Tomorrow I'm hoping goes even better but the real test will be when she's gone for 2.5hrs next week!

Overall, I'm SO PROUD of my baby girl!! I still can't believe she's old enough for preschool. Man, time flies.
